Our Restoration Process

Every water damage job follows the same steps, in the same order, with photos and moisture readings at each one.

How does water damage restoration work?

Water damage restoration moves through seven steps: the call, inspection, water removal, removal of unsalvageable materials, drying, verification and repair. We follow the ANSI/IICRC S500 standard, and each step is documented for you and your insurance company.

  1. Your callWe ask where the water came from, what's wet and whether anyone is at risk. We tell you when the next crew can reach you and what to do until then: shut off the water, cut power to wet rooms if it's safe, and move valuables.
  2. Inspection and moisture mappingTechnicians find the source, check for safety hazards and rate the water category. Moisture meters and thermal cameras map how far water spread behind walls and under floors. We photograph everything before work begins.
  3. Written scopeWe explain what can be dried, what has to be removed and roughly how long drying will take. Drying and repairs are listed separately. If insurance is involved, we explain whether we'll bill the insurer directly or bill you.
  4. Water removalPumps and extractors remove standing water and pull water from carpet and pad. This is the fastest way to cut drying time.
  5. Controlled removalMaterials that can't be saved come out: contaminated drywall, soaked carpet pad, swollen particleboard. Baseboards may come off and small holes go into walls so air can reach wet cavities.
  6. Drying and daily monitoringDehumidifiers and air movers run around the clock. We check every marked spot daily, adjust equipment and log the readings until each material reaches its dry goal.
  7. RepairOnce readings confirm dry, we replace drywall, texture, paint, baseboards and flooring. A final walkthrough with you closes the job.

What you'll get from us

  • Photos of the damage before, during and after
  • A moisture map showing where water spread
  • Daily drying logs with readings and equipment counts

These records are what insurance adjusters use to approve a claim. See how we help with insurance claims.

Our mold remediation process

Mold jobs follow a different sequence: find the moisture, contain the area, filter the air, remove the growth, clean, dry and verify. Our mold remediation page explains each step.

Frequently asked questions

How noisy is the drying equipment?

Fairly noisy. Air movers and dehumidifiers sound like several loud fans running at once. Most families stay home during drying, but bedrooms with equipment can be hard to sleep in.

Will my electric bill go up during drying?

Yes, somewhat. Drying equipment runs around the clock for several days. On insurance claims, the added electricity cost is often reimbursable, so keep your bills.

Water where it shouldn't be?

Turn off the water source if you can do it safely, then call us. We'll tell you what to do next and when a crew can be there.
